    An interesting website is www.hoaroakcottage.org which relates to a restoration/history project being carried out. It details family names in the area and apparently in the 1860's shepherds travelled there from Hawick in Scotland as part of an agricultural experiment. Think I will add this under Scotland as well just in case!
